THG’s Partnership with Thales
Thales’s Data Security business needed to scale its marketing operations efficiently across multiple languages. By partnering with THG Fluently, they moved from a decentralised process to a streamlined, centralised workflow, resulting in significant time and cost savings, improved brand consistency, and faster content publication.
The Challenge
Before working with THG Fluently, the Thales Data Security team faced several challenges that limited their ability to scale effectively:
- Decentralised Workflow: The team worked without a central system, involving multiple stakeholders in a complex content production process.
- Lack of Tools: There was no Translation Memory (TM) in use, leading to inconsistencies and repeated work.
- Inefficient Reviews: The review and approval stages involved many phases and stakeholders, making the cycle difficult to manage and simplify.
- Speed and Consistency: As the need for localised content grew, it became a top priority to publish content quickly while maintaining a high-quality, uniform brand voice across all languages and markets.
The Solution
THG Fluently implemented a comprehensive, end-to-end service to address Thales’s needs, starting in 2018 for the European region.
- Centralised System: A translation management platform was introduced that integrated directly with Thales’s CMS. This allowed the team to manage translations from within their own system.
- Workflow Integration: The solution included multilingual brand strategy, translation, localisation, proofreading, and desktop publishing (DTP) for web and marketing assets.
- Leveraging Technology: Provided an effective workflow orchestration with the ability to leverage the Translation Memory (TM), utilise neural machine translations and improve quality through agentic AI models prior to human post editing saved time, reduced costs, and maintained a high level of brand consistency.
- Streamlined Reviews: Intuitive review tools created a fully traceable environment, giving the team greater control and clarity over the editing and approval stages.
Key Outcomes & Results
The new, lean workflow produced significant improvements in efficiency, consistency, and cost savings.
- Faster Turnaround: The time taken to get translated content live was significantly reduced. For a 20-page batch, the importing/exporting turnaround time was cut by four days.
- Increased Efficiency: Automation helped to limit inefficiencies and potential human errors, saving hours of manual page and batch management.
- Budget Control: The use of TM was crucial in keeping the language services budget under control by removing unnecessary spending.
- Global Expansion: The success in the EU led to THG Fluently managing the team's worldwide localisation needs, including the US, APAC, LATAM, and the Middle East, and expanding to include SEO strategy.
